Real Sheepskin Cushions, Round and Square
Real sheepskin, cut and sewn into cushions. Round from D8 to D24 and square from 14x14 up to 24x24 inches, in long hair, short hair and curly, with sheepskin on one side or on both.
Choosing a sheepskin cushion
A sheepskin cushion is the cheapest way to get the material into a room without committing a whole floor to it. One on a reading chair does more than you would think.
Round or square, and what actually fits
Square is the safe pick and the one most people start with. We run 14x14, 16x16, 18x18, 20x20 and 24x24 inches, plus rectangles at 11x22, 12x24, 13x20 and 16x24 for the small of your back on a deep sofa.
Round goes from D8 up to D24. The little ones at D8 and D10 are decorative more than useful. D16 and D18 are the sizes people actually lean on.
Measure the seat depth before you buy for a sofa. A 24x24 swallows a small two seater and looks right on a big one.
One side or both
A single sided cushion has sheepskin on the face and a plain backing. It costs less, and it is the sensible choice when the cushion sits against a chair back where nobody sees the reverse.
Doublesided means sheepskin front and back. You pay more, but it looks the same whichever way it lands, which matters on a bed or an open bench.
Long hair, short hair and curly
Long hair is the one people picture. It moves, it catches the light, and it is the softest to lean into.
Short hair sits flatter and holds its shape better under weight. Pick it if the cushion is going to get used rather than arranged.
Curly is tighter and more textural. It reads as pattern rather than plush, and it hides marks well.
What they are made from
Most of our cushions are New Zealand sheepskin in long hair and short hair, and the short hair version carries fine little curls through it.
The rest of the range covers curly sheepskin, alpaca, which is lighter and silkier than sheepskin, cowhide, and a woven front finished with a sheepskin trim.
Covers and fillings
Some of these are sold as covers rather than finished cushions, so you can pull one over an insert you already own. The product page says which. If it says cover, there is no insert in the box, and we sell fillings separately.
Looking after them
Shake them out. That is most of the job, and doing it every couple of weeks stops the hair packing down.
Vacuum on the lowest setting when they need it. Smooth hair takes a brush now and then. Leave the curly ones alone and just shake them.
Keep dyed cushions out of direct sun, because UV pulls the color out over time. Undyed natural skins are happy in a bright room.
