New Zealand hides are the most even sheepskin we sell. The hair is dense and consistent in length, and the pelts are large and regular, so they lie flat and hold their shape.

Why people choose it

Evenness is the point. If you want a sheepskin rug that looks deliberate rather than characterful, or one that will take daily traffic on a floor without separating, this is the one to buy.

It also takes color well, which is why most of our dyed hides start as New Zealand pelts.

For a looser, more textural look, Icelandic sheepskin falls in longer locks. For tight curls, look at Mongolian.
