A fell is a pelt. It is also the fell where the sheep graze — the word travelled from Old Norse into English and stayed in both places. A vang is a fenced meadow. Fellvang is the meadow on the fell, and the skin it gives.
This is two whole lambskins sewn together lengthways. 160 cm is long enough to drape over the back of a sofa, across the foot of a bed or down the side of a double bed, without looking like it doesn't quite reach. The wool is New Zealand long wool: straight, heavy and easy to brush back into place after an evening on the sofa.
The skins are dyed. That doesn't make them uniform. Every animal has its own wool structure, and it doesn't disappear in the dye bath — the shades shift slightly across the rug, and no two pieces of the same colour are ever identical. That is what a natural product looks like. It is also the whole point.
We believe in slow materials. Skins that grow more beautiful with the years, rather than something to be replaced next season.
Colours
- Champagne — the lightest. Creamy beige with a warm glow; sits well with pale wood and white walls.
- Toffee — a muted taupe. Grey-brown rather than caramel, and the easiest to use in a room that already holds plenty of colour.
- Dark Beige — warmer and darker than Champagne, without turning brown.
- Coal — a deep steel grey. The only cool tone in the range, and the one that stands out most clearly against light furniture.

Care
Shake the rug and brush the wool with a lambskin brush when it flattens. No machine washing. Dyed skins fade in direct sunlight. Keep it off the windowsill, out of conservatories and out of the open air if the colour is to last. Even a sunny spot close to a window can draw the colour out over time.
